What can you do about SPAM?
You can log into Maia and teach the system about the HAM and SPAM you have received. You must log in with your userid@llamas.net email address and password.
Once logged in you will be presented with a description of how Maia can help you, and the most common items you will work with. On the left you will see the current protection level setting, which you should leave at High unless you are having significant problems with incorrectly categorized email. On the right you will see how Maia has categorized your recent email with links for you to verify the results. At the bottom are some historical statistics about your email traffic.
For each of the cache categories Non-Spam, Spam, Virus, Banned-File, and Bad-Header there is a link to verify that emails are listed correctly and help train the system to perform better in the future. When you click on the Report/Confirm link for Non-Spam you will see the following screen:
You will see email on this page listed in order of how high the Spam engine scored them. The most likely Spam will be listed at the top with scores descending into negative numbers that indicate less spaminess. You should click the Spam radio button for emails that are not HAM and click the confirm button to teach the system the errors of its ways. Repeat this process until all HAM email is verified.
Next you have to review emails tagged as Spam and confirm they are accurately marks so.
The same process if followed for Banned Files and Bad-Header email messages. If you choose to release any of these files instead of deleting them, they will be delivered to your inbox as normal. Be Very Careful releasing virus to be delivered to your desktop!
Now that you have begun teaching Maia how to score your email, you can move on to configure some other preferences.
